Indianola Marina campers:
Milburn & Ruth (Austin, Texas)
This was my second trip to Indianola, and our first fishing adventure with Captain Rick. He was knowledgeable, friendly, easy going, and an all-around nice guy too... just what novices like us needed. Right away Rick took us to a spot where he knew we would catch fish... and we did! My wife caught the biggest redfish, and I caught a 40 pound stingray! We caught a wide variety of fish, and a lot of them too—we had an absolutely wonderful day.
And then there was the "one that got away," literally! Towards the end of the trip I caught something that ran with my line, and kept running like crazy; my line was zipping off the reel faster that I could have ever imagined. My rod was doubled over, my back was hurting and my hands were sweating when finally, out of desperation, I handed the rod over to Rick because I couldn't bring the fish in. Rick took over, but the line kept flying off the reel. 200 yards of line was gone, and then the line snapped at the reel. Rick looked at me and simply said, "That was a BIG one!" I loved the thrill of it all and loved having a real fish story to tell to my friends.
Later that evening my wife and I were fishing in the lighted camping area at the marina (with very little luck and a lot of lost line/bait), when Rick dropped by to check on us. He told us how to rig our line so it wouldn't get caught in the oyster bed, and suggested we move to a certain location at the edge of the lights. Wham! After the FIRST cast I caught a nice red, and a keeper too! Ruth and I thought Rick's visit that night was above and beyond the call of duty, and we really appreciated it.
We would definitely recommend Captain Rick's Guide Services!
